Causes of Chronic Back Pain

On the physical level, it may be due to trigger points in the muscles. You can work with them using tennis balls or smaller massage balls. If you’d like a video link, feel free to message me — I’ll be happy to share it.

Psychosomatic causes of chronic back pain can often be related to emotional and psychological states.
GENERAL PSYCHOSOMATIC CAUSES OF BACK PAIN
(especially when the pain has lasted for a long time):
🔹 Feeling burdened — like you're carrying too much: responsibilities, others' expectations, guilt, control.
🔹 Lack of support — the sense that “there’s no one to lean on” and you have to do everything on your own. This is often rooted in childhood experiences where parents were not emotionally or physically supportive.
🔹 Repressed emotions — unprocessed feelings like anger, resentment, fear, or grief often “settle” in the body. The back is one of the places where these emotions get stuck.
🔹 Excessive inner control — constant inner tension and the need to keep everything under control can lead to chronic muscle tightness.
🔹 Fear of moving forward — especially if the pain gets worse with movement: it may be connected to fear of change or internal resistance to life transitions.
🔹 Unacknowledged exhaustion — constant activity, workaholism, ignoring your own limits and needs.

SYMBOLIC ZONES OF THE BACK
(and subconscious emotional conflicts):
🔹 Upper back (shoulders, shoulder blades, trapezius area):
  • Unprocessed resentment
  • Longing for love and support
  • Feeling betrayed or abandoned
  • Inability to “unfold your wings” — not living out your creative or spiritual nature
🔹 Middle back (thoracic spine):
  • Guilt (there’s healthy guilt and unhealthy guilt — if you're curious about the difference, let me know, I’d love to share the simple formula!)
  • Hidden conflicts in close relationships (especially with parents)
  • Feeling “stuck” in life
🔹 Lower back (lumbar spine):
  • Financial instability or fear of losing income
  • Survival-related tension
  • Fear of abandonment
  • Suppressed sexual energy or shame related to the body
🌿 WHAT CAN HELP:
  • Bodywork: gentle somatic practices, massage, body-oriented therapy
  • Writing practices: expressing and releasing suppressed emotions
  • Working with beliefs and ancestral patterns
  • Resourceful meditations: restoring inner support
  • Art therapy: for example, drawing your “back” and having a two-handed dialogue with it

If you feel like you need support — feel free to message me!😍
