Pain during Periods

🌸 Why does the body speak through pain during periods? 🩸

You know the feeling. The cramps... The backache that feels like a constant, dull throb. The exhaustion that’s more than just tiredness. If your period pain is severe and disrupts your life every single month, you are not alone.

Medicine often looks for physical causes (like endometriosis, fibroids, or PCOS), and some women ruled those out with a doctor. But what if, after all the tests, the pain still remains? What if there's another layer to the story?

Our bodies and minds are not separate; they speak the same language. Sometimes, physical pain can be the body's way of expressing what our minds are holding onto. This isn't about "it's all in your head"—it's about the profound connection between our emotional world and our physical experience.

Could there be a psychosomatic component to severe period pain? Let's explore some gentle questions, not to blame, but to understand:

1. What Needs to Be Released?🗣️

The uterus is a place of creation, intuition and feminine power, but also a place of release. Are you holding onto unexpressed anger, grief, or frustration? Is there something—a relationship, a job, a resentment—that your body is literally "cramping" to let go of each month?

2.  Where Are You Not Nurturing Yourself?🤍

This time asks you to slow down and turn inward. If you're constantly in "go" mode, caring for everyone else, your period can be your body's forceful way of saying, "STOP. Rest. Nurture YOU." The pain might be the only thing that gives you permission to pause.

3.  What Are You Carrying That Isn't Yours to Carry? 🎒

Do you feel overburdened by responsibility, expectations, or the emotional weight of others? That heavy, aching feeling in your pelvis and low back can sometimes mirror an emotional burden you're carrying.

4. Is There a Conflict with Your Femininity or Power? 👑

How do you feel about being a woman? About your body? About your sensuality or power? Unexamined shame, past trauma, or social pressure can create a deep-seated tension that manifests as pain in our most sacred center.

Pain also may point to:

- difficulties accepting cycles of life, change, or endings,

- pressure of perfectionism, control, or self-criticism,

- unhealed experiences related to sexuality or motherhood.

Again, this is not to dismiss your reality. It's an invitation to see your body not as an enemy, but as a messenger. The pain is a signal. What is it trying to say?

This month, when the pain comes, try something different. Before reaching for the heating pad and painkillers (which are valid tools!), take 5 deep breaths. Place a hand on your lower belly and gently ask: "What do you need me to know?"

You might be surprised by the answer.

🌿 Also can help:

- journaling: writing down feelings that arise with the cycle,

- soft movement or art therapy to allow emotions to flow,

- breathwork or meditation focused on the womb and lower belly,

- seeking supportive sessions where you can release old stories held in the body.

💖 You are not alone, and you are not broken. Pain is often the body’s cry for love and care. By listening to these signals with compassion, step by step, healing becomes possible.
